@翻了个译,MTI专业辅导@翻了个译,MTI专业辅导Butbeyondeconomics,numbersandfigures,Ithinkthere'sasimplerreasonthatthismatters,asimplerreasonforfixingoursystem.It'sthatinatruedemocracy,liketheoneweprideourselvesonhaving--andsometimesrightfullyso--achild'sfutureshouldnotbepredeterminedbythecircumstancesoftheirbirth.Apubliceducationsystemshouldnotcreateawiderbottomandmorenarrowtop.Someofuscansometimesthinkthatthesethingsaren'tthatclosetohome,buttheyareifwebroadenourview,becausealeakyfaucetinourkitchen,brokenradiatorinourhallway,thosepartsofthehousethatwealwayssaywe'regoingtogettonextweek,they'redevaluingourwholeproperty.Insteadofconstantlylookingawaytosolutionslikeprivatizationorthecharterschoolmovementtosolveourproblems,whydon'twetakeadeeperlookatpubliceducation,trytotakemoreprideinitandmaybeuseittosolvesomeofoursocialproblems.Whydon'twetrytoreclaimthepromiseofpubliceducationandrememberthatit'sourgreatestcollectiveresponsibility?Luckilysomeofourcommunitiesaredoingjustthat.Thehugeteacherstrikesinthespringof2019inDenverandLA--theyweresuccessfulbecauseofcommunitysupportforthingslikesmallerclasssizesandgettingthingsintoschoolslikemorecounselorsinadditiontoteacherpay.Andsometimesforthestudent,innovationisjustdaringtoimplementcommonsense.InBaltimoreafewyearsago,theyenactedafreebreakfastandlunchprogram,takingawaythestigmaofpovertyandhungerforsomestudentsbutincreasingachievementinattendanceformanyothers.AndinMemphis,theuniversityisrecruitinglocal,passionatehighschoolstudentsandgivingthemscholarshipstogoteachintheinnercitywithouttheburdenofcollegedebt.AndnorthofhereinTheBronx,Irecentlyresearchedthesepartnershipsbeingbuiltbetweenhighschools,communitycollegesandlocalbusinesseswhoarecreatinginternshipsinfinance,healthcareandtechnologyforstudentswithout"silverspoon"connectionstogainimportantskillsandcontributetothecommunitiesthattheycomefrom.SotodayIdon'tnecessarilyhavethesamequestionsabouteducationthatIdidwhenIwasanidealistic,perhapsnaïvecollegegradworkinginadetentioncenterbasement.It'snot:Canschoolssavemoreofourstudents?BecauseIthinkwehavetheanswertothat--andit'syestheycan,ifwesaveourschoolsfirst.Wecanstartbycaringabouttheeducationofotherpeople'schildren...AndI'msayingthatassomeonewhodoesn'thavekidsyetbutwantstoworryalittlebitlessaboutthefuturewhenIdo.Cultivatingasmuchtalentaspossible,gettingasmanygirlsaswecanfromalloverintoscienceandengineering,asmanyboysaswecanintoteaching--thoseareinvestmentsforourfuture.Ourstudentsarelikeourmostvaluableresource,andwhenyouputitthatway,ourteachersarelikeourmodern-daydiamondandgoldminers,hopingtohelpmakethemshine.Let'scontributeourvoices,ourvotesandoursupporttogivingthemtheresourcesthattheywillneednotjusttosurvivebuthopefullythrive,allowingallofustodosoaswell.
