@翻了个译，MTI专业辅导@翻了个译，MTI专业辅导Forareallylongtime,Ihadtwomysteriesthatwerehangingoverme.Ididn'tunderstandthemand,tobehonest,Iwasquiteafraidtolookintothem.Thefirstmysterywas,I'm40yearsold,andallthroughoutmylifetime,yearafteryear,seriousdepressionandanxietyhaverisen,intheUnitedStates,inBritain,andacrosstheWesternworld.AndIwantedtounderstandwhy.Whyisthishappeningtous?Whyisitthatwitheachyearthatpasses,moreandmoreofusarefindingithardertogetthroughtheday?AndIwantedtounderstandthisbecauseofamorepersonalmystery.WhenIwasateenager,IremembergoingtomydoctorandexplainingthatIhadthisfeeling,likepainwasleakingoutofme.Icouldn'tcontrolit,Ididn'tunderstandwhyitwashappening,Ifeltquiteashamedofit.AndmydoctortoldmeastorythatInowrealizewaswell-intentioned,butquiteoversimplified.Nottotallywrong.Mydoctorsaid,"Weknowwhypeoplegetlikethis.Somepeoplejustnaturallygetachemicalimbalanceintheirheads--you'reclearlyoneofthem.Allweneedtodoisgiveyousomedrugs,itwillgetyourchemicalbalancebacktonormal."SoIstartedtakingadrugcalledPaxilorSeroxat,it'sthesamethingwithdifferentnamesindifferentcountries.AndIfeltmuchbetter,Igotarealboost.Butnotverylongafterwards,thisfeelingofpainstartedtocomeback.SoIwasgivenhigherandhigherdosesuntil,for13years,Iwastakingthemaximumpossibledosethatyou'relegallyallowedtotake.Andforalotofthose13years,andprettymuchallthetimebytheend,Iwasstillinalotofpain.AndIstartedaskingmyself,"What'sgoingonhere?Becauseyou'redoingeverythingyou'retoldtodobythestorythat'sdominatingtheculture--whydoyoustillfeellikethis?"Sotogettothebottomofthesetwomysteries,forabookthatI'vewrittenIendedupgoingonabigjourneyallovertheworld,Itraveledover40,000miles.
