epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This specification covers glass fiber reinforced gypsum(GRG)composites having minimum properties and qualitysuitable to allow the production of GRG parts for non-loadingbearing,thin section,ornamental shapes for architecturalembellishment of interior building construction.1.2 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI(metric)are to be regarded separately as standard.Within thetext,the SI units are shown in brackets.The values stated ineach system shall be independent of the low waterdemand,neutral(pH)or low alkalinity,and a purity of not lessthan 90%by weight of CaSO42H2O.4.1.2“E”Glass FiberChopped glass fiber strands orcontinuous strand mats of calcia-alumina silicate glasses con-forming to Specification D578.4.1.3 WaterPotable water.4.1.4 AdditivesIn accordance with the alpha gypsum ce-ment manufacturers specifications.4.2 Manufacturers Certification of Raw Materials:4.2.1 Alpha Gypsum CementEach lot of alpha gypsumcement shall be certified to be in compliance with 4.1 and 5.1.4.2.2 Glass Fiber ReinforcementEach lot of glass fiberreinforcement shall be certified to be in compliance withSpecification D578.4.3 Composite Preparation:4.3.1 Prepare a flat,rectangular composite of sufficient sizeto obtain specimens required in 5.2.The composite preparedshall be the same formula as the intended GRG part.5.Mechanical Properties5.1 Neat Alpha Gypsum Cement:5.1.1 Normal Consistency shall be not more than 30 whentested in accordance with Test Methods C472.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee C11 onGypsum and Related Building Materials and Systems and is the direct responsibilityof Subcommittee C11.01 on
