Designation:D159313Standard Specification forNonrigid Vinyl Chloride Plastic Film and Sheeting1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D1593;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope*1.1 This specification covers nonrigid, unsupported vinylchloride plastic film and sheeting in which the resin portion ofthe composition contains at least 90%vinyl chloride.Theremaining 10%can include one or more monomers copoly-merized with vinyl chloride,or consist of other resins mechani-cally blended together with poly(vinyl chloride)or copolymersthereof.1.2 The vinyl chloride plastic film and sheeting coveredherein shall be 0.075 to 0.25 mm(3 to 10 mils)in thickness forfilm and greater than 0.25 mm in thickness for sheeting.Thefilm and sheeting shall include the stabilizers and plasticizersnecessary to meet the requirements of this specification.Thisspecification covers transparent, translucent,or opaque filmand sheeting that is plain, printed, embossed,or otherwisesurface treated.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard.1.4 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to thetest methods portion,Section 10,of this specification:Thisstandard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns,if any, associated with its use.It is the responsibility of the userof this standard to establish appropriate safety and healthpractices and determine the applicability of regulatory limita-tions prior to use.NOTE1There is no known ISO equivalent to this standard.2.Referenced quality. The test data are not necessarily suitable fordirect application in design because of differences encounteredin the shape of the part, loading, size, environmentalconditions, and so forth. The test results can be used forinspection and quality control tests, provided similar testequipment and proper methods are used.4.2 Films and sheetings are available, compoundeddifferently, where special properties are required.Special typesof film and sheeting will be added to the specification as theirinclusion becomes generall
