Designation:D8381/D8381M−21StandardTestMethodsforMeasuringtheDepthofDeepFoundationsbyParallelSeismicLogging1ThisstandardisissuedunderthefixeddesignationD8381/D8381M;thenumberimmediatelyfollowingthedesignationindicatestheyearoforiginaladoptionor,inthecaseofrevision,theyearoflastrevision.Anumberinparenthesesindicatestheyearoflastreapproval.Asuperscriptepsilon(´)indicatesaneditorialchangesincethelastrevisionorreapproval.1.Scope1.1ThetestMethodsdescribedinthisstandardareusedtomeasurethedepthofverticaldeepfoundationelementsinclud-ingmicropiles,drivenpiles(prefabricatedorcastin-situ),boredpiles,secantortangentpilewalls,caissons,barrettes,diaphragmwallsandsheetpilewalls.Itisapplicablewherethetopofthesaidfoundationelement(inthefollowingalsonamed“pile”)cannotbeexposedfortestingandothertestingmethodssuchasASTMD5882orD6760cannotbeused.1.2Thisstandardprovidesminimumrequirementsformea-suringthedepthofdeepfoundations.Plans,specifications,and/orprovisionsmayprovideadditionalrequirementsandmethodsasneededtosatisfytheobjectivesofaparticulartestprogram.1.3Thisstandardprovidesthefollowingtestmethods:1.3.1Method“A”usingaverticalaccesstubeadjacenttothedeepfoundation.1.3.2Method“B”usingaseismicconeinsertedintothegroundadjacenttothedeepfoundation.1.4ApparatiandMethodshereindesignated“optional”mayproducedifferentadifferentkindoftestresultsoradditionalinformationandmaybeusedonlywhenapprovedbytheengineerresponsibleforthetest.1.5Thetextofthisstandardreferencesnotesandfootnotesthatprovideexplanatorymaterial.Thesenotesandfootnotes(excludingthoseintablesandfigures)shallnotbeconsideredasrequirementsofthestandard.1.6Units—ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.7Allobservedandcalculatedvaluesshallconformtotheguidelinesforsignificantdigitsandroundingestablishedin...
